A Virtue That is Much Needed

Galatians 5:22-23

I.  Patience is not always desired but much needed.

   

    A.  Scripture often places patience and suffering side by side. II Tim. 3:10-12, James 5:7-11

 

    B.  None of us wants to have to wait, much less suffer while we wait. Rom. 12:9-13, James 1:2-5

 

II.  God give us examples to follow.

 

    A.  Abraham, Job, and David.                                         Job 1:19-21; Ps. 37, 40; Heb. 6:13-20

 

    B.  Jesus.                                                 Luke 22:31-34; Matt. 6:30, 8:26, 14:31, 16:8, 17:20

 

III.   The fruit of patience is eternal.                                                                              vs. 22

 

    A.  The companions of patience are faith, joyfulness, and  godliness.                                       

                                                                Col. 1:9-14,II Thess. 1:3-8,Heb. 6:10-12, II Pet. 1:5-8

 

    B.  Patience produces hope.                                                      Rom. 8:25, 15:1-6; I Thess. 1:3

 

 

Have I dared to pray for patience?  Do I trust that God’s plan is best?
